Weed control is one of the most difficult and unpleasant aspects of housekeeping. Various methods are used to destroy them. Weeds can be picked and weeded out using various devices. But this is a rather hopeless process, which can be called a Sisyphean task. The roots of plants, cut during the weeding process, begin to multiply and live independently. As a result, the number of weeds does not decrease, but increases. Therefore, for large areas a different approach is needed. For many decades, herbicides have been used for this - substances that attack all parts of the weed with virtually no effort on our part.
How does Tornado work?
After spraying the herbicide "Tornado" against weeds and getting it on parts of the plant, the active substance penetrates inside in a couple of hours. For several days the weeds do not show any signs of damage. But after about a week they turn yellow, wither, and after three weeks they completely disappear. For trees and shrubs, wilting begins after a month and ends after two months.
If weather conditions are not conducive to the rapid action of the drug (this could be cold and rain, or drought), then it may take longer. The drug itself remains in plants and soil for up to 60 days after using “Tornado” against weeds. The instructions for use say that it has maximum effect after three to four weeks. Then its strength decreases and it dissolves, breaking up into harmless substances. But you don’t have to wait that long to plant plants. This is done four days after using “Tornado” for weeds.
Reviews from gardeners note that there is no need to rush to till the soil. By plowing the area before the weeds disappear, we will crush their roots. Some of them will remain and begin to grow further. Therefore, you need to wait two to three weeks before plowing or loosening the soil.
If you frequently use the Tornado herbicide, some plants may develop an addiction effect to it (resistance). Then you need to replace it with something else, for example, Roundup.
Mechanism of action
The working solution penetrates the plant system through leaves, stems and spreads to all parts (root system, above-ground part). The active substance, by blocking the production of certain amino acids, affects the growth points, which contributes to the death of parts of the plant.
Visible symptoms of damage: yellowing/browning of foliage, drying of stems, death of roots.
On annual plants, signs appear after 3-5 days, perennial weeds begin to dry out after 7-10 days.
How to breed Tornado from weeds?
So, how to use this herbicide correctly? When treating garden plots with the weed preparation “Tornado”, the instructions recommend diluting it in water at the rate of 25 ml per 3 liters of water for annual and 50 g for perennial cereals. To destroy wheatgrass, ragweed, and field bindweed, you need to increase the dose to 75 ml.
When spraying areas for subsequent sowing of crops in the fall with the herbicide "Tornado" against weeds, the instructions recommend diluting 50 ml for annuals and 75 ml per 3 liters of water for perennials.
Before sowing lawns, the area is treated two weeks before sowing. Diluted to combat annual weeds at the rate of 50 ml per 3 liters of water, with perennial weeds - 75 ml per three liters.
Apply the herbicide "Tornado" in the fields where potatoes are planted, treating the green parts of the weeds two to five days before emergence. Concentration – 25 ml per 3 liters of water.
In those areas where nothing useful grows (roadsides, uncultivated places), weeds are sprayed, taking into account their type. For annuals, dilute from 25 to 50 ml per three liters of water, for perennials - from 50 to 75 ml.
Annual weeds are treated when their height is in the range from 5 to 15 cm. Perennial weeds are treated after they reach a height of 10 cm. The preparation should not come into contact with plants that are to remain. Therefore, it is better to take a sprayer for treating a garden, vineyard, or yard of the “Rosinki” type; its spray radius is small.
It can be treated with a regular sprayer, but you need to use a small nozzle. If you need to destroy single plants, for example, trees or shrubs that have crawled through the foundation, or single weeds growing among cultivated plants, you can use a paint brush. It will make it possible to process only unnecessary plants and not damage anything unnecessary.
When using “Tornado” for weeds, the instructions for use recommend taking three liters of solution per 100 square meters.
Treatment is carried out once a year, when there is no wind, during warm hours, in the morning or evening.
Tornado cannot be mixed with pesticides.
Compound
This product is made with glyphosate. This is the main active ingredient. There is 1/3 of it in the preparation (in 1 liter - 360 g), it is worth mentioning Tornado 500, in which the active substance makes up 1/2 of the total volume (read the label). The product "Tornado" works equally well on both annual and perennial weeds . It is used to control weeds in vegetable gardens, summer cottages and personal plots in autumn and spring, 3-4 weeks before cultivating the land. In orchards and vineyards, row-spacing is treated while weeds are growing and developing. Roadsides and areas free from plantings can be cultivated throughout the entire growing season.
Precautionary measures
Herbicide "Tornado" for weeds is a substance belonging to the 3rd hazard class. It will not harm bees or pets. The substance must not be allowed to enter water bodies.
The area must be treated in compliance with the rules common for handling all pesticides. Use personal protective equipment; do not eat, drink or smoke while spraying. Avoid contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes. If this happens, quickly spray them with water without covering them.
If the substance splashes onto the skin, remove the substance with a cloth swab and wash with soap.
If ingested through the gastrointestinal tract, you need to induce vomiting, after giving the affected person several glasses of water with sorbent. If he is unconscious, you need to urgently call an ambulance. Do not perform any actions yourself.
After completion of the work, the remaining product must be destroyed. You can pour it on the weeds or pour it into an inaccessible place. The container is burned, hands and face are thoroughly washed with soap.

The effectiveness of the herbicide "Tornado"
Can an herbicide completely and permanently clear a plot or field of weeds? No. But it greatly facilitates the cultivation of crops.
If you treat the soil with the Tornado herbicide before planting, there will be no weeds on the site for about two months. This will give the opportunity for a full-fledged plant to emerge, rise and form.

About two years ago I bought a neighboring neglected plot of land for my dacha, on which the hogweed is just rushing... In the end, I can only save myself with Tornado, or its analogue with Roundup. It is necessary to process three to four times per season. But this year I hope to cultivate it in the spring and then try to sow the lawn.Answer

Hello, Sergey! We would like to recommend several more ways to combat this difficult-to-breed plant. If the area of the area that needs to be rid of hogweed is not very large, then you can use the method of cutting off buds and flowers. But there is a certain danger, since the juices of the plant can get on the gardener’s skin or mucous membranes and cause irritation or burns. Therefore, if you decide to use this method, you need to take care of protection, especially the eyes and respiratory tract. You also need gloves, preferably rubber ones.
If the area has been mowed, then you also need to check from time to time to ensure that new shoots do not begin to form from under the roots, on which buds will appear.
If the most optimal method of removal is with the help of chemicals, then you need to remember that the treatment is carried out before flowering, so that the seeds do not fall into the ground, otherwise the appearance of a new generation of weeds cannot be avoided. When fighting specifically against hogweed, we recommend doubling the dose of herbicide. Also, the effect will be better if you re-treat it after two or three weeks. Make sure that the drug reaches the generative shoots and inflorescences.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that if these herbicides get on garden plants, it will greatly harm them. Also, you need to take into account that beneficial insects may die, for example, bees, which pollinate many garden plants, as well as small animals that live on the site.
To destroy this plant, the method of cutting off the growing point is sometimes used. To do this you need to use a special flat cutter. The depth during processing should be 8-10 centimeters. Sometimes the soil on the site is simply dug up, but such measures will have to be carried out several times until the effect is achieved. We recommend that you then go through the area with a rake and remove all parts of the hogweed.

Reviews and recommendations
Consumers note the effectiveness of the drug "Tornado" against weeds. Reviews indicate some features of its use:
- Plants need to be treated until they grow above 20 cm.
- Tall grass must first be mowed and removed and only then sprayed, otherwise a large amount of the drug will be used to dry the cut grass.
- After applying the herbicide, wash the sprayer thoroughly. If this is not done well enough, then during further treatment of crops, for example from late blight, the sprayed plants may die.
- Rain, which occurs shortly after treatment with the Tornado herbicide, reduces the concentration of the poison, and only the above-ground part of the plants dies. The roots remain. It is advisable to carry out treatment 6 hours before rain.
- When processing in windy weather, drops may accidentally fall on useful plants growing nearby, which will lead to their death.
Spraying
To combat weeds, you will need to use the product in the first stage of the growing season.
It will reduce the development of plants. During this period, vegetable crops become strong and begin to fight weeds on their own.
When the drug is used for the second or subsequent time in a season, the plants must be treated for the last time 45 days before the harvest is planned. The specified period will be required for the chemicals to wash out and go into the ground.
For example, you need to process a ridge on which zucchini and pumpkin are located. When the first shoots have formed, the soil around them is loosened and cleaned.
After this, the solution is applied. They are processed so that the drug does not reach beneficial plants. While new weeds appear, vegetables will have time to gain strength and grow. The leaves are used to slow down the penetration of pests into the plant.
The drug can be used together with others. To accurately destroy weeds on the site, it is recommended to use additional herbicides. For example, a mixture called Magnum.
