I will share my experience about greenhouses. I took it for my mother, but over time I got into the subject myself. This is what I concluded for myself: it is imperative to regulate the temperature in the greenhouse; in the first year it was very hot in the greenhouse and all the tomatoes ripened at the same time. And you definitely need to take care of it, clean it of snow at least twice a winter. And if there is a lot of snow, then even more. I also installed wooden supports, but for the first year it stood without them, so this is optional.

Over the past few years, all the neighbors in the area have replaced their glass greenhouses with polycarbonate ones. Last year I decided to buy one for myself. The choice fell on the manufacturer of glass house, because almost all the reviews about it are good. I took Narva, dimensions 2.5 x 2.1 x 5.05 m. I divided the inside into two parts, on one side first radishes, and then tomatoes, and on the other cucumbers. They are growing simply excellent, the managers did not deceive. I harvest several crops a year. I recently read on a forum that tomatoes and cucumbers need to be planted separately. Now I plan to take another one in a year and a half, but only in voice house.

We bought a greenhouse with all the stuffing: a tying system, a ventilation system and ready-made beds. Of course, you could buy all this on the market, and it would be cheaper, but we decided to do everything in one place, especially since we liked the managers so much. I spent a long time choosing a greenhouse, after looking at many options, I chose the Glass House company. Only they have greenhouses made of galvanized metal corners 1.5 mm thick. I went to their office, where they also have exhibition samples, and looked at them with my own eyes. Let us touch the plastic; it varies in thickness and density. As a result, I bought a 3 by 6 m Birch with an additional door and 6mm premium plastic. I am very pleased with the purchase. This year, in mid-May, the cucumbers were already in full bloom. I express my special gratitude to the manager Svetlana, she was very helpful with the choice of greenhouse and plastic. The installers assembled the greenhouse in a day. I wish the Glass House company prosperity.

Comrades, it’s time to switch to cellular polycarbonate, it’s much more profitable and simpler.

In general, we were pleased with the purchase of the greenhouse and use it with pleasure, and most of all we are pleased with the tomatoes and cucumbers grown in such a convenient and beautiful greenhouse.

Basic operating rules

Since the building performs a protective function for the crop grown in it, it takes the full blow of the elements and the disfavor of the weather.

Important! The location for installing the greenhouse should be sunny, with free access to the building. There should be no tall trees or dense plantings nearby.

In order for the greenhouse to serve for a long time and be used effectively, it requires simple but regular maintenance, which consists of the following:

cleaning as necessary, but at least 1-2 times per season, from dirt. To do this, use a soap solution and water;
monitoring the reliability of bolt fastening. It is important that they are not overtightened, which can cause cracks to appear on the polycarbonate, and also that the fastenings do not “dangle”, and in case of strong gusts of wind, the cladding of the structure remains in place;
monitoring the integrity of metal structures. When the first signs of corrosion appear, these places must be cleaned;
annual change of end strips and cleaning of corresponding profiles.

Greenhouse care in summer

Since polycarbonate is a light source for greenhouse plants, providing an even and comprehensive distribution of sunlight, it is necessary to monitor the cleanliness of the panels. If the plastic has a layer of contamination, it stops transmitting light and begins to overheat, which will affect the development of plants and the condition of the roofing material itself.

Winter care

In winter, there is a possibility of condensation accumulating in the honeycombs of polycarbonate sheets if their fastening was carried out in violation of the technology, which in the future can lead to cracks under the influence of low temperatures during severe frosts.

Also, it is necessary to ensure the timely removal of snow cover from the surface of the greenhouse. It is recommended to do this at a time when the snow is not covered with an ice crust and has not turned into an ice block, which can lead to deformation of the structure under gravity and cause damage to the polycarbonate coating.
